I started writing about 10 years ago as
the direct result of a spiritual experience.
Since then, I've been published in several small
press publications, and self-published 2 books
in Norfolk, England...the first...'Petals In The Wind'
was sold locally and in England. All proceeds were
given to FARA, a Romanian childrens fund which builds
houses for orphaned and abandoned children, and
incorporates these children into loving homes. The
second book 'The Instream' I sold locally, had a
book signing at our local library in Spring Valley,
Illinois, and gave the total proceeds to PADS...
which is our local homeless shelter in Peru, Illinois.
In May of 2007, I received the Edgar Award in
Lewistown, Illinois for a poem written for the
Edgar Lee Masters poetry contest. The contest
commemorates Edgar Lee Masters, who wrote
Spoon River Anthology. I was poet of the month this
past August 2007 at Cross Way Publications.
Recently, as of September 2007, I had 2 poems chosen
to have music composed to...to be sung by a national
award winning choir this Dec.,2007. Most recently, I've
had 5 poems accepted at various Christian publications;
most recently won 1st place in the Writers Journal magazine
poetry contest for the poem 'Amelia;' and also an honorable
mention in the same contest for the poem 'CPA Dad.' The
poem 'Amelia' appears in the Nov/Dec 2007 issue of Writers
Journal, which is available at most major bookstores.
As of Jan. 2008, two poems and a testimony were accepted and
published at Utmost Christian Writers. As of Jan.2008, I won
1st place in the Cross Way poetry contest for the poem 'Peace in Christ.'
I write almost every day; I pray for inspiration each time before
I write, and I give thanks to the Lord after each poem is completed.
I give all credit to the Lord for whatever I write; He is my
constant source of inspiration.
I am a formalist. (most of what I write is in formal verse.)
